Supporting Queensland veterans and their families

The Queensland Government is delivering for Queensland with practical measures to recognise service, strengthen wellbeing, and improve outcomes for veterans’ and their families, in the 2026-27 Budget.

The Veterans Budget is strengthening the foundations for a fresh start, with better services through a stronger economy.

Through the Honouring our Veterans Program, communities across Queensland will be supported to upgrade war memorials, avenues of honour and memorial gardens as well as deliver special commemorative events and activities that educate and raise awareness of veterans’ service and sacrifice of veterans.

The Budget also supports the delivery of the State’s first Queensland Veterans and Veterans’ Families Strategy and the implementation of practical actions, that enable a coordinated approach to better support veterans and families navigate services and opportunities across Queensland.

New initiatives identified under the Premier’s Veterans Fund will also invest in organisations that place veteran and family wellbeing at the forefront of their work, strengthening connections and delivering outcomes for the veteran community.

Premier and Minister for Veterans David Crisafulli said the 2026-27 Budget backed Queensland veterans and their families with practical support and lasting recognition.

“Queensland veterans and their families have given so much in service to our State and nation, and this Budget delivers practical measures to honour that contribution and better support them into the future,” Premier Crisafulli said.

“From restoring and upgrading war memorials to delivering the State’s first Veterans and Veterans’ Families Strategy, we are making sure veterans are recognised, respected and supported.”

Treasurer David Janetzki said the 2026-27 Budget was about delivering for Queensland with better welfare and support for veterans.

“We are delivering on our promises, with relief you can rely on through responsible decisions for now and the future, and no new or increased taxes,” Treasurer Janetzki said.

“This Budget strengthens the foundations we’ve laid in making Queensland safer, restoring health services, delivering a place to call home for more Queenslanders, building generational infrastructure, getting the Games back on track, as well as playing our part to ease national cost of living pressures.”
