Queensland Government delivers Police Beat for Nambour
The Queensland Government is making Queensland safer, with the new Nambour Police Beat on track to be operational by year's end.
It is one of the ways the Queensland Government is delivering a fresh start for Queensland and restoring safety where you live.
The establishment of the Nambour Police Beat sees the Queensland Government deliver on a key election commitment to provide a high visibility policing presence within the CBD and rebuild frontline policing.
The Lowe Street site was identified in consultation with members of the Nambour business community and key local policing representatives.
The Queensland Government’s plan to make Nambour safer also includes a new state-of-the-art CCTV network.
The Police Beat will be staffed by a full-time police officer and contain interview and meeting rooms, along with a waiting and reception area.
The Nambour Police Beat is part of the Queensland Government’s $290.3 million investment into new and upgraded police facilities and will help restore safety where you live, alongside stronger laws, more police, early intervention and rehabilitation.
More than 19 new recruits have joined the Sunshine Coast frontline since the October 2024, and there are now 453 extra police officers.
Premier David Crisafulli said the Queensland Government was delivering a fresh start for Queenslanders, exactly as promised.
“We are restoring safety where you live with a new permanent police presence in Nambour CBD,” Premier Crisafulli said.
“This is part of our plan to make Nambour safer and with new CCTV, more police and Adult Crime, Adult Time we will turn the tide on youth crime.
“While we are seeing crime down, there is much more to be done to make Queensland safer, and we remain committed to delivering the fresh start we promised.”
Minister for Police and Emergency Services Dan Purdie said the Queensland Government was committed to putting community safety first through the establishment of facilities such as the Nambour Police Beat.
“This new police beat will strengthen local safety, improve engagement and help restore safety where you live,” Minister Purdie said.
“We are upgrading police facilities and delivering new police beats to give police the resources they need to make our community safer.”
Member for Nicklin Marty Hunt said the Queensland Government had listened to the Nambour community.
“We are restoring safety where you live and giving our police the resources and tools they need in Nambour,” Mr Hunt said.
“The community has been calling for a new police beat for over a decade.
“The Queensland Government is proud to deliver on the election commitment to deliver a new police beat to help make Nambour safer.”
