Easing urban congestion
Urban congestion is caused by traffic, freight and commuter demand that outweighs the capacity of the road and public transport system.
The Queensland Government is working with all levels of government, industry, the community and an international congestion expert to implement a balanced approach to deal with urban congestion.
Some of the ways the government is currently dealing with congestion in South East Queensland include:
South East Queensland projects
During 2008 the Queensland Government completed the Inner Northern Busway and King George Square cycle centre (non-government site). Other works currently underway include:
- Gateway Upgrade Project,
- Airport Link,
- Northern Busway.
